Breast Surgery
Dr. James Chen uses several different methods for placement of the implants.
An incision can be made in the crease of the lower part of the breast, along the lower half of the dark skin around the nipple, or in the armpit. All of these methods are designed to result in minimal scarring so that the incisions are not easily detected. After the incision is made, the implant is carefully inserted either under the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle.
Dr. James Chen says that it is important that the implants are then adjusted to ideal size and symmetry before the incision is sutured closed, with internal stitches to minimise any chance of scarring.
How is implant size determined?
Many women tend to think of their breasts in terms of bra cup size. For instance, if you’re a 34 A now, you may know you would like to be about a 34 C after your augmentation. At the same time, you may have concerns about breast shape and proportions that bra cup size alone can’t describe. You may know that you’d like to have a certain amount of cleavage, or more an “hourglass” figure. You should discuss you personal preferences with your cosmetic doctor; so that he or she can take them into account in choosing the right implant size and shape for you.
Dimensions like breast width, height, and projection describe breast shape, and may help both you and your cosmetic doctor think more specifically about the individual results that you want. For this reason, implant size can also be chosen based on dimensions.
Breast Surgery
The size of a woman’s breasts can have a dramatic effect on her social, psychological an even medical well being. With the many advances in today’s cosmetic surgery, breast size can be altered to replace a breast deformed by cancer, enhance or decrease breast size to be better proportioned with a woman’s body, or reduced to alleviate shoulder and back pain.
According to Dr. James Chen, cosmetic doctor at Ashbury Cosmetic Surgery and Vein Centre. Breast surgery can enhance the proportion and appearance of adult women of all ages. It can also be a tremendous boost to an adult woman’s self-esteem. While breast surgery is available to almost everyone, it is important to determine why you are seeking breast surgery and for your cosmetic doctor to fully evaluate your status. The best candidates for breast surgery are healthy women with a stated desire to enhance or reduce the size of their breasts.
During your consultation, you and your cosmetic doctor will discuss the improvement you would like to achieve with breast surgery. You may undergo a breast exam to help your cosmetic doctor determine the surgical approach that is necessary for the best results. Your cosmetic doctor will also review your medical history.
Your surgery may be performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis, under general or local anaesthesia. Either way, you will want to arrange for someone to drive you home after your procedure, and to be available to help you for a couple of days.
At Ashbury, Dr. James Chen also performs breast lift surgery to help saggy breasts as well as breast reduction. For more information and a consultation call Ashbury- Brisbane on (07) 3857-6188 or the Gold Coast on (07) 55706-800
